Jazmin Whitley visits with Defining Girl!

Hey everyone! So Twisted Silver's Defining Girl Academy had an awesome event this past weekend. The successful, young, and talented fashion designer Jazmin Whitley came to talk and mentor the 50(ish) girls in the academy. It went amazingly well and I am so glad that we were able to pull it off! One word to describe Jazmin: inspiration. She truly is an amazing example for all girls- young and old- of how to tune into your passions and talents and then DO something with them! She is one of the youngest fashion designers to ever get this far so fast. She is the perfect role model for any girl who strives to further develop her talents as well as herself. Jazmin is a Defining Girl x10.

Here are some pictures from the event:

Defining Girl Academy!

Hey everybody! So I have some very exciting news straight from the Twisted Silver headquarters:

Twisted Silver is starting a new program called Defining Girl! The mission is to encourage girls to network together in order to share and expand their passions, talents, and ambitions.
This is from the Defining Girl page:

"A defining girl knows herself. She knows her talents, strengths, and value. She embraces the differences she and others possess. She is defined by her passions, not by others expectations. She is proud to not fit a mold, and understands that she is truly one of a kind. Defining girl is our community that strives to inspire and encourage individuality. We’re fueled by each defining girl and her own, one-of-a-kind journey."

This is for middle school and high school girls who have passion for anything
art, singing, tuba, baking cakes, knitting hats, fashion shows, photography....and I mean anything!

If you or if there is someone you know that would be interested, then please apply and join the Defining Girl Academy! The information is on the Defining Girl facebook page. If you think you belong to the Academy, click here to find the application information!

Jewelry Design/Fashion Forecast

At the last Twisted Silver meeting, we were challenged to design a necklace and then create it all within 45 minutes! And, trust me, it was quite the challenge. My necklace was a combined leather and chain with a circular pendant of a map hanging from the bottom. It had other small accessories intertwined throughout it. It definitely did not turn out the way I wanted it to! I learned from this little disaster just how difficult it really is to design a quality piece of jewelry. I'll try to get a picture up soon!

My Fashion Forecast:
Spring 2011:
This spring is all about the bright colors. Think burnt orange, bright reds, and copper-toned yellows.

It's taking a trip back to 60's inspired wear.
It mixes in bright colors with intricate textured-patterns.
Oui, c'est tres chic!

Think pleated skirts and dresses, matched with high pump wedges and heels.

Also keep your eye out for these 60's inspired jackets!

Style Watch: Soft Military

Soft Military is my favorite Fall trend. It consists of a complexion between soft yet masculine, strong yet relaxed,  tailored yet comfortable. Twisted Silver has come out with several new pieces to complement and further enhance the look.  At the Studio 7 event, I represented the Soft Military trend (I'll get some pictures up soon!)

This style has a few staples that will help you create the look!
Just to name a few-

The Jacket: army green, khaki, navy blue, black, grey. Symmetrical buttons on the jacket are generally the most identifiable feature of a military jacket. Think simple, tailored, and structured.

The Boots: brown or black. Nothing with a diva heel- think riding boots, and preferably lace-ups. The longer they are, the better.
I have this pair and absolutely LOVE them: MizMooz King Boot

To finish the rest of the look to up to you! You can wear it with dark straight leg jeans, tights and a skirt or dress- it really can be anything, and make sure when you assemble the outfit, it still reflects your personal style and aura.

Here are some accessory pieces that work perfectly with the trend:

Heist Necklace

XO earrings

Swiss-Army ring

Style Watch: Blazers

What’s in right NOW!
Blazers. No longer for your history professor or the businessman- Sweeping through the world of teenagers and young adults alike, blazers are able to give a simple outfit a touch of class and sophistication. With the right fit, it immediately turns any ensemble from casual to high fashion. With the blazer, dress for success takes on a whole new meaning.

The absolute best thing about the blazer? It can be worn with almost any kind of outfit; enhancing and maturing the look.

You can take the most basic outfit: jeans and a t-shirt… and when you add the blazer, BOOM! You have an entirely advanced look.

Or you can take a casual sun dress or skirt--add the blazer-- now you’re ready for a night on the town or a brunch date with the girls.

Have some old shorts and a tank top you probably would only wear at the beach? Think again, ladies. With a patterned blazer, you’re ready for a walk in the park with a hot guy and even some ice cream after.

Blazers are especially great for job interviews and work. A fancy blouse with a solid fitted blazer is a great look that all body types can pull off.

Whether you’re at work or play, day or night, summer or winter, the blazer is multifunctional as well as pretty dang sexy. An instant classic for any age, it fulfills desires of a new found maturity while holding on to the purity of youth.

Celebrity Circle: how they wear their blazers.
{Kim Kardashian}
{Taylor Swift}

      Even the envoys get their blaze on.
{Jacqueline Woodwell}
{yes, even me}

 And what do you ask would work perfectly with blazers? Answer: Twisted Silver, enough said ;)

The Envoys Go Public!

Hey all! Before you read my blog, check out this article from the Pleasanton Patch about the Twisted Silver Envoys! --->Envoy Article!

So last Thursday, the 23rd, was the Twisted Silver Private Showing at Studio 7. It's purpose? To introduce all of the new Envoys and present the new line of jewelry for the season! We were so excited for it, and it was a lot of fun. We helped sell the jewelry and started to learn how the business works. It was an important step to our "training", as Twisted Silver designer and creator, Deb Mitchell, would say.

Way back at our first meeting, we pulled a Twisted Silver "style" out of a hat. Whatever we pulled, we had to stick with. With that style, we had to create a style "story board" as well as master it. Then, at the Studio 7 event, we showed off our styles and how to wear the jewelry with that specific style.

Some of these styles included Revamped Vintage, Nouveau Boho, Simple Classics, Europa, Aristocratic Safari, Rocker Sophisticate, Lots of Layers, and my style, Soft Military. I was really happy with the style I had, and I think I was able to make it work pretty well with the Twisted decor.

Good News! Twisted Silver will now be sold at Studio 7 downtown Pleasanton- all the new styles and line for season will be there :)

Saturday morning, I returned to the lovely Studio 7 to help Debbie introduce her new new new line- Go Green! It's where she takes old and broken jewelery and turns them into new beautiful Twisted pieces. She also introduced pieces with miniature pine cones, sea glass (my favorite), and sea shells. They truly are inspired and beautiful pieces of jewelery, as well as art. Debbie really has outdone herself with these pieces.

Along with the Go Green line, I also demoed a new idea- rolled fabric beads. With a few vintage buttons and mixed metal chains, I was able to create a new necklace that Debbie let me keep. I wore it that day, and already have 3 pre-orders for it! It's so different and random- I guess people really like it! I'll get a picture up soon!
